The Helping Hand Fund was started by Linda Bishop and Vernabell Miller in 1977-78. During the first 4-6 years the Helping Hand Fund contributions were made by area businesses donating to help start the fund. Helping Hand is thought of as a “Lift Up” for those in need. The Helping Hand Chairman works closely with the Trustee and three churches to make sure the people in need are helped and to help direct people to additional resources. Area 4 is another resource agency that can help those in need. For example, they have a fund to help those in need for heat bills in the winter.
